Takashi Someda | Chief Executive Officer
Takashi Someda majored in statistics and informatics at the Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University. After graduating, he joined Sun Microsystems, where he gained experience as a systems engineer before engaging in software development under the Exploratory Software Project. He later co-founded a startup, then launched the Kyoto office of a Fukuoka-based venture company, working on service development, marketing, and other initiatives. In 2016, he joined HACARUS Inc., serving as Director and CTO, then COO, before being appointed Representative Director and CEO in January 2024.

Koji Tanabe | Founder and CEO of I Peace, Inc.
Dr. Koji Tanabe is Founder and CEO of I Peace, Inc., a biotechnology company advancing iPSC technologies for regenerative medicine and longevity. An early pioneer in induced pluripotent stem cell research, he earned his PhD in Nobel Laureate Dr. Shinya Yamanaka’s laboratory and co-authored the landmark publication describing the first generation of human iPSCs. After postdoctoral training at Stanford University, he founded I Peace in 2015 to expand global access to iPSC technology. His leadership has been recognized with the Top 100 Innovation CEO Award and the Japan Entrepreneur Award in Healthcare.

KORTUC is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a new approach to improve the effectiveness of radiation therapy for cancer patients. Originally developed in Japan, its technology is designed to help radiation treatment work better against difficult-to-treat tumors.
The technology has already been used in more than 1,300 patients in Japan. Today, KORTUC is advancing global clinical development in breast, cervical, and rectal cancers in collaboration with leading cancer centers in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States.

Kazuyuki Matsuda is the CEO of KORTUC and has more than 20 years of experience in 1 of 5 biotechnology, healthcare, finance, and entrepreneurship. He has founded and helped build multiple life science ventures, including Perseus Proteomics, a Japanese antibody therapeutics company later acquired by Fujifilm.
Prior to joining the startup ecosystem, he worked at Mitsubishi Corporation and Merrill Lynch. He was involved in investment and corporate finance activities at Mitsubishi Corporation and later advised pharmaceutical and healthcare companies on financing and mergers and acquisitions at Merrill Lynch.
Based in Silicon Valley, Matsuda is dedicated to bringing Japanese medical innovations to patients worldwide and strengthening innovation ties between Japan and the United States.
OOKUMA DIAMOND DEVICE
Director of Business Development
Ookuma Diamond Device is a Hokkaido University–AIST-JAEA startup born from the decommissioning challenges of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. We develop diamond semiconductor RF devices through a vertically integrated IDM model and are building the world’s first diamond semiconductor plant in Okuma, Fukushima. By leveraging diamond’s exceptional thermal conductivity, high-frequency/high-power performance, and radiation tolerance, we aim to support Fukushima decommissioning, defense radar and seekers, space systems, and next-generation communications. We are also exploring U.S. partnerships to advance joint development and trusted supply chains for strategic applications.

Jun Asakawa | Co-Founder & CEO of Pale Blue Inc.
Dr. Jun Asakawa founded Pale Blue in 2020 to develop next-generation space mobility after working as an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Sciences. He has led the development of propulsion systems for Procyon Probe (world’s first deep space microsatellite), AQT-D Satellite (water propulsion system), EQUULEUS Satellite (water propulsion system) and other small satellite/spacecraft. With his expertise in propulsion systems, Dr. Asakawa has won MIT Tech Review “Innovators Under 35 Japan 2020,” IEPC “Best Paper Award,” and has been selected as Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts 2022.

Ren Ito is the Co-Founder & Chairman of Sakana AI, Japan’s fastest unicorn after one year in business, backed by Nvidia and a broad spectrum of Japanese enterprises. Previously, Ren was CEO of Mercari Europe, Japan’s first unicorn. Before tech, Ren spent 15 years as a Japanese diplomat after graduating from the University of Tokyo. He handled the US-Japan security alliance, negotiated the Japan-EU free trade agreement, served as the Prime Minister’s official summit interpreter, and represented Japan at the World Bank board. A New York State bar member and former Stability AI executive, he now leads Sakana AI alongside renowned AI researchers Llion Jones and David Ha.
